Plan Review
The county building department's review of submitted drawings and specifications before issuing a building permit.
What plan review actually means.
Plan review is typically the slowest step in the permit process — county reviewers check submitted drawings for code compliance (FBC, NEC, IMC, etc.), structural adequacy, egress, and code-specific requirements. Clean drawings submitted the first time pass review faster; incomplete or non-compliant submissions trigger revision cycles. North Georgia plan review timelines: Habersham County 2–4 weeks for residential, Hall 3–6 weeks, Rabun 3–5 weeks. Commercial tenant improvements typically 4–8 weeks.
