What georgia building code (fbc) actually means.
The Georgia Building Code is the consolidated state-wide construction code, updated on a three-year cycle. The current version (FBC 2023) governs all residential and commercial construction in Georgia and references additional standards (National Electrical Code, International Plumbing Code, ASHRAE, ASTM). County and municipal building departments enforce the FBC at permit and inspection. The Georgia Existing Building Code applies to alterations of existing structures, including most remodels.
