General Contractor (GC)
The licensed entity responsible for executing a construction project, coordinating subcontractors, and pulling permits.
What general contractor (gc) actually means.
A general contractor in Georgia holds a state license (licensed general contractor or Certified Building Contractor) and is responsible for the entire build: scheduling, subcontractor coordination, permit acquisition, code compliance, and contractual performance to the owner. The GC is the legal counterparty to the construction contract and is bonded and insured. Georgia Statute 489 governs who can perform what scope; work requiring a building permit must be performed by a licensed contractor.
